Mónica Barrera: “Hay mucho miedo, pero gracias a la gente solidaria yo sigo en pie”

El comedor del barrio Néstor Kirchner entrega bolsones de alimentos a 37 familias. Es asistido por el municipio de Santa Rosa, Provincia y por gente solidaria. Pese a la importante ayuda, para algunos “no es suficiente”, cuenta Mónica. ¿Hasta dónde se podrá aguantar la cuarentena? La pregunta que se hacen los referentes barriales.

La última vez que Revista BIFE asistió al comedor y merendero Luz de Esperanza del barrio Néstor Kirchner de la calle Margarita Monge al 1239, fue en diciembre. Era un día de sol al mediodía cuando un niño de 10 años entraba a la casa de Mónica Barrera -60 años, casada y siete hijos- para almorzar mientras decía “¡buenos días, buen provecho!”, y Mónica con cierto orgullo medio que se jactaba, porque dejaba entrever que en su comedor, también, se enseñan buenos modales. Era un halo de satisfacción –saber que había inculcado buenos modales- que se permitía tener en medio de una situación de precarización.

Si en aquel momento el panorama era casi desolador, y uno debía hacer un trabajo introspectivo para buscar fuerza en las reservas espirituales, acomodar los estantes anímicos y seguir cubriendo la demanda social (desde julio del año pasado -por la devaluación- los comedores comunitarios en casas de barrios de Santa Rosa se reprodujeron estrepitosamente, la demanda creció y, en simultáneo, los habituales donantes comenzaron a escatimar la dosis de alimentos ante la crisis desatada), ahora, como se sabe, la situación empeoró a tal punto que, todavía, ni siquiera se visualiza el fondo.

“Gracias a la gente que es solidaria yo estoy en pie”, dice Mónica Barrera, en comunicación con Revista BIFE, quien junto a Claudia Schwab atienden a 37 familias. “Es un situación complicadísima. Se nos complica sumar más familiar por la demanda de la mercadería. Gracias a Dios hay mucha gente solidaria, y con el gobierno provincial y municipal que nos ayudan, nos estamos haciendo cargo de estas familias”, explica.

Luz de Esperanza, que está constituido como una Asociación Civil, y que nació como merendero hace 8 años con 15 chicos, y hace 4 años como comedor, con la intención en un principio de que sea un espacio de contención donde se puedan brindar talleres de todo tipo, pero que rápidamente se convirtió en un lugar al que recurrir para que un sector del barrio se pueda alimentar; hoy por la situación de cuarentena permanece cerrado pero no inactivo: preparan bolsones de alimentos semanalmente a las 37 familias. La municipalidad de Santa Rosa, junto a donantes solidarios como la carnicería El Remanso, el colegio Nervi, la pescadería Picomar, el grupo de vecinos del barrio El Faro, entre otros, les facilitan la mercadería, mientras que el gobierno provincial refuerza la dosis acercando los alimentos al domicilio de dichas familias.

“Tengo un grupo de Whatsapp, y les digo a las madres y padres que vengan a buscar los bolsones. Lo hago de manera espaciada para respetar el aislamiento. Además, el gobierno provincial me pide los datos de estas familias, y por su parte se acercan también para reforzar con más alimentos”, cuenta Mónica.

Pese a la ayuda, para algunos no es suficiente. En consecuencia, una señora del barrio Colonia Escalante, llamada Cristina López, solidariamente se comprometió y prepara 10 viandas por día para los más necesitados de esas 37 familias. “Como no podemos cocinar, Cristina se sumó y cocina 10 viandas que la vamos a buscar para entregarla a aquellos más complicados, me refiero a los que tienen entre 7 y 8 hijos”, relata Barrera.

Por otra parte, describe la situación que se está viviendo. “Hay desesperanza y mucho miedo. La gente no puede salir a trabajar y la mayoría acá o trabajan en casa de familias o son albañiles, en familias que tienen por lo menos 4 chicos. Insisto que pese a la ayuda de la gente solidaria y del Estado presente, lo que les damos no les alcanza”, lamenta.

Los bolsones de alimentos están compuestos por puré de tomate, aceite, leche, chocolate, fideos, arroz, azúcar, masitas, queso y lentejas. Para algunas familias también se les entrega huevos. Por su parte, hay empleados del gobierno que colaboran con pollos, o de la carnicería El Remanso que entrega gallinas.

La panadería “San Agustín” también contribuye con donaciones

“Nosotros tenemos la obligación de darle de comer a esas familias. No podemos fallar. Esto es una Asociación Civil desde hace 5 años. Tenemos la obligación. Y gracias a toda la gente solidaria es que todo esto sigue en pie, porque hay una cantidad de gente anónima que se acerca, desde apoyo escolar hasta ropa para el frío. Sin ellos yo no hubiese seguido en pie”, revela Mónica con BIFE.

La referente barrial opina que la extensión de la cuarentena es “media insostenible, no sé hasta dónde podamos aguantar”. También, cuenta que “es difícil tener a los chicos adentro. Desde nuestro lugar, tratamos de advertir, de informar, aunque en mi zona la gente se cuida, respeta el aislamiento”. Por último, rescata que “por lo menos nos vemos asistidos. Estamos cuidados. Y ahora más, desde el lunes estamos con más presencia”.
