MI VECINO, EL PRAN

El “pranato” es el nuevo sistema de gobierno paralelo que domina en los barrios. Son organizaciones delictivas que nacieron en las prisiones y se expandieron como pulpos hacia el resto del territorio venezolano. El cronista decidió irse de San Mateo, después de una semana, y dirigirse a Maracay, la ciudad desde donde Chávez planeó el golpe de Estado en 1992.

1.El “alcalde” Pedrito

A 200 metros de donde estaba, en lo alto del cerro, vive el pran. El pran (Preso Rematado Asesino Nato) es el líder carcelario que dirige desde la prisión a organizaciones delictivas denominadas “trenes”. Ahora el término se ha extendido y se llama “pran” a la persona que controla la actividad criminal en los barrios y las minas de oro de distintas regiones del país. 

En 2011 la situación carcelaria estaba desbocada, y crearon el Ministerio de Poder Popular para el Servicio Penitenciario con el objetivo de “convertir a la cárcel en un centro de formación del hombre nuevo”. Asumió Iris Varela como ministra, quien tenía asignada la dura tarea de terminar con los motines, que disminuyeran los homicidios y que no aparecieran más noticias negativas.

Subiendo el camino se ubica la casa del pran

Como Varela tenía pocos recursos, decidió adoptar una política de negociación, de manera tal que se fue acercando cada vez más a los pranes más importantes de Venezuela. Se acercó tanto que la ministra quedó atrapada en la red de los encantos de algunos pranes con quienes mantuvo relaciones amorosas, y de la mano de Wilmer José Brizuela, alias “WIlmito”, se empezó a “institucionalizar” la estructura y el sistema del pranato. Acá se puede leer una buena investigación al respecto.

Por las noches cada tanto en San Mateo se escuchan ametralladoras. Pero más que nada es porque las prueban, ya que han exterminado a los “malandros” del barrio y no precisan, según me cuentan, utilizarlas en seres humanos, por ahora. Antes era un barrio inseguro, dicen, pero desde la llegada del nuevo pran hace 2 años, uno puede andar tranquilo.

Concurrimos a una fiesta en el pueblo. En un momento en que estábamos bailando, la gente se amontonó y se empezó a formar un camino como quien divide las aguas. Eran los guardaespaldas del pran, que pasó caminando en un instante congelado donde el silencio se hizo presente, rodeado de hombres con fusiles Fal. Es un “chamo” de 22 años, encapuchado, bastante petiso y algo robusto. Se llama “Pedrito”, pero nadie lo nombra. O cuando lo nombran dicen “Pedrito” en voz baja, en un susurro. Dicen que tiene una puntería quirúrgica con su revólver, y lo llaman “alcalde” porque es el dueño de ese territorio y los territorios aledaños. De empleado tiene a gente llamada “garitero”, que se apostan a lo largo del cerro con los ojos como búhos y las orejas estiradas para pasarle información. Son chicos que reclutan de entre 10 y 18 años. Es tan grande esta nueva cultura, que se instaló definitivamente desde hace unos 10 años, que tiene un lenguaje propio

El pran “Wilmito” y la ministra Iris Varela

Los pranes y su gente, entonces, se dedican a negocios como el tráfico de gasolina, de armas, también a la venta de alimentos y cada tanto montan fiestas lujosas que duran entre tres y cuatro días, entre alcohol, drogas, sexo y salsa, en las prisiones venezolanas que van desde el Estado de Miranda hasta la isla Margaritas. En los barrios, también, los más serios se dedican a la seguridad de sus habitantes. Muchas veces haciendo justicia por mano propia y liquidando con plomo a los ladrones, y muchas otras ofreciendo el servicio de seguridad a personas que tienen un almacén, un buen carro, entre otras.

2. Me voy.

Al cabo de unos días, decidí irme de San Mateo. Más allá de que era un sitio peligroso, sobre todo para uno que porta una terrible cara de pendejo extranjero, donde se dificulta mucho el traslado o sale muy caro; el agua y la electricidad se suele ir con facilidad de modo que era muy complicado registrar los días, y los recursos se me iban agotando. 

Me comuniqué con la hermana de un contacto que hice en Argentina, que es hija de una colombiana ex guerrillera de las FARC que vive en Caracas, y que actualmente es el enlace de la guerrilla vecina en Venezuela. En ese momento estaba dándole techo a un hombre que se dedica a un asunto que no me quisieron especificar, pero que era tan importante que nadie se podía acercar por “medidas de seguridad”. Con lo cual, la casa de la guerrillera quedaba anulada entre mis opciones de alojamiento. “Coño”, dije para mí. 

Sin embargo, la amable camarada me contacto con otros camaradas suyos que viven en Maracay, a unos pocos km. de San Mateo. Rápidamente cuadramos lo que ellos denominaron “operación rescate”, me preguntaron si también era revolucionario y a qué partido pertenecía, dije que era peronista, del campo nacional y popular y todo eso, me dijeron que buenísimo, que iba a ser el enlace de Argentina en un encuentro internacional de los pueblos que apoyan “la revolución”, y dije que la idea de participar del evento me entusiasmaba. Al dia siguiente me pasó a buscar un comunista de barba pero sin bigote, con una pinta de árabe que volteaba. “Vente pana, súbete al carro”, me dijo, y me fui a conocer la militancia desde adentro, en medio de una crisis que atraviesa Venezuela sin precedentes.
