Zapatillas: lo que más buscan y menos consiguen las familias pobres en Santa Rosa

Hoy comprar zapatillas cuesta lo que sale un alquiler. Sin embargo, es el producto que más necesita una familia pobre después de los alimentos. La odisea en los barrios en boca de dos “trabajadoras sociales”. Además, el fetichismo de las zapatillas, el valor simbólico de las marcas y la experiencia del cronista con sus Zig zag del 2001.

Conseguir zapatillas se ha convertido en un artículo casi exclusivo para aquellas familias que recorren lunes tras lunes los centros de Cáritas (o de otras organizaciones barriales), quienes intentan suministrarle un calzado a sus hijos. Las bajas temperaturas y los precios por las nubes transformaron a las zapatillas (cualquiera sea su marca) en un producto inaccesible y de privilegio para quienes persisten en las capas más pobres de la sociedad, y viven en medio de una inflación que derrite el bolsillo y congela el corazón.

Actualmente, la zapatilla es el producto que más necesitan y buscan las familias pobres en Santa Rosa, el que menos se encuentra en los centros de asistencia social por su demanda, el que más desean los chicos, el que más sufren las madres y el que más ha aumentado en tiempos de pandemia.

El invierno acecha y existen múltiples problemas que provoca en las personas la pobreza. Primero está el acceso al plato de comida y después a la ropa. No es nada nuevo. Recorriendo algunos centros de ayuda social con Revista BIFE, encontramos que las zapatillas es lo que más buscan en temporada baja las familias más necesitadas. “No sabemos qué decirles a las madres. No hay zapatillas, y las que tenemos son calzados para adultos y en mal estado”, dice Elvira, quién está a cargo de Caritas que funciona en la casa de las monjas del Plan 5000. 50 familias se acercan al lugar cada lunes preguntando por lo mismo: “¿hay talle para mis chicos? “. “La necesidad nos desborda” asegura la hermana Berta a BIFE.

Para ambas que trabajan todos los días en el barrio, observan un aumento de la necesidad en las familias y puntualizan en que son muchas las madres jóvenes que cargan con este flagelo.

Comprar zapatillas le duele a cualquier trabajador de a pie. Un par cuesta cerca de un salario mínimo, un alquiler medianamente digno o la compra del mes en un supermercado. Sólo durante el primer trimestre de 2021, tanto el calzado como la ropa aumentaron un 15,5%; y si se toma interanual, es decir a mayo de 2020, el rubro subió al 71, 5% frente a una inflación del 42,6%, que indica el Indec. El comienzo de las clases presenciales potenció el problema. Elvira cuenta que cada vez que ingresan zapatillas por donaciones o porque compran envía un mensaje de whatsapp para dar aviso aunque no es del todo suficiente cuando existen familias numerosas.

El otro problema lo comenta la hermana Berta. Hasta no hace mucho tiempo en conjunto con la iglesia compraban zapatillas pasadas de “moda” en los locales de indumentaria deportiva de Santa Rosa. Compraban de a 10 o 20 cajas a precios liquidados para después poder repartir. Al día de hoy, ya ni siquiera eso. Incluso existe un boom de las replicas. Se venden a través de las redes sociales, son modelos de las marcas más importantes que cuesta la mitad de lo que valdría la original. Por ejemplo, una réplica de la Jordan Nike cuesta 6 mil pesos.

El fetichismo de las zapatillas

Puede que suene polémico o hasta banal hablar de lo que significa el calzado para los niños/as en este contexto socio –económico que estamos describiendo. Pero existe un fetiche histórico en la zapatilla que detallaremos a continuación.

La zapatilla opera como un elemento de “identificación” o de “diferenciación” social, según la perspectiva desde que se la observe. Esta última indica que el acceso a un producto genera cierto status o target que en definitiva termina diferenciándote del resto. Sin bien la “clase social” es importante, a veces alcanza con conseguir un trabajo -o por la acumulación de changas- para que uno rompa su mercado interno y acceda a comprarse unas Jordan NiKE y… ¡mañana vemos!

Un compañero de trabajo recuerda que cuando era niño se miraba nada más las zapatillas; que si los agujeros de su remera o pantalón crecían hasta meter la mano no le importaba.

Mi experiencia con las Zig Zag del 2001

Era mayo de 2001, y la cara de mi vieja no parecía para nada contenta pese a que era mi cumpleaños. Me habían regalado unas zapatillas de origen desconocido: Zig zag. Se vendían en un comercio del barrio y salían $7 pesos.

Las zapatillas eran negras, flácidas y cuyo logo era una Z. Había caído al submundo de los marginales en la escuela; había retrocedido de status porque de las Zigzag no se volvía. Convencido de que mis Z era tan fuertes como las Nike de Michael Jordan con cámaras de aire de mis compañeros había revoleado de un zapatazo la pelota en medio de un fulbito en educación física y la suela de mis Z volaron por el aire como si las hubiera partido un rayo: no servían ni para el pan y queso.

“Ya vendrán tiempos mejores”, recuerdo que expresó mi vieja, hace 21 años atrás, y cuando uno no pensaba todavía en el sufrimiento de nuestros padres mientras la guita entraba justa y la crisis económica recurrentemente nos agobia.
