“Yo te puedo asegurar que esto en un momento estuvo “jevi”, venían y creían que el bar era tierra de nadie. Llegó un momento que no lo podía manejar. Pero hoy te digo que eso cambió. Y lo pude hacer sin poner mano dura”, relata ya distendido luego de varios minutos de charla con Revista BIFE el dueño de Jake al Rey, Fabricio Ojeda, más conocido como el “Pela”, cuando se le pregunta por los momentos más agitados que vivió estando al frente del local ubicado en la calle Alsina desde hace 7 años. “He llegado a llorar en mi casa por el clima que se generaba acá adentro, ahora ya pasó. Me salió mucha plata revertir esa situación de desborde en la que estaba el bar, pero valió la pena“.
“El antro”, “el bar del under”, son algunas de las denominaciones del hoy único reducto 100% rock de la ciudad. “Este es el último bastión, loco. No hay otro”, dice el “Pela”, con algo de orgullo y, a su vez, preocupación. “En estos meses de pandemia las cosas se están complicando para poder mantener de pie a Jake. No me preguntes por qué, pero somos el único bar que no pudo acceder a un crédito, y así es muy difícil”.
Ojeda señala que desde hace mucho tiempo el bar es apuntado como un lugar de reviente y estigmatizado por las autoridades municipales, si bien la realidad hoy es otra, todavía quedan algunos vestigios de esa “mala fama”, aunque asegura que el presente es muy distinto al hostigamiento que padeció durante los cuatro años de la gestión de Altolaguirre. “Lo que viví con la intendencia anterior fue directamente una persecución. Me clausuraban con mentiras, con muchas mentiras. Dejé muchas obras paradas acá en el bar porque la plata se la llevaban ellos con las multas que me cobraban, hasta tuve que vender mi auto para poder pagarlas. Jake fue la “vaca lechera” de los que se fueron el 10 de diciembre”.
Más allá de los obstáculos que sorteó como emprendedor de la noche, Fabricio mira hacia atrás y siente que cumplió con el objetivo. “Yo apunté a darle lugar a las bandas que no tenían cabida acá en Santa rosa. En muchos lugares no podían tocar, prácticamente les pedían curriculum para poder hacerlo. Seguramente algunos músicos legitimados de la escena rockera nunca vayan a tocar en Jake, y esta bien, es su decisión, porque este lugar es sobre todo para los músicos a los que muchos les daban la espalda”.
La idea de gesta de Jake rondaba en su cabeza desde el momento en que llegó a La Pampa, a principios de los 2000, proveniente de San Luis. Ya en Santa Rosa, pudo volcar la poca experiencia que portaba como agitador cultural. “En mi provincia pude tener mi primer bar a los 19 años, pero no funcionó, yo era muy chico y no estaba preparado, y esa espina me quedó y esperé para sacarmela. Por suerte al poco tiempo empecé a trabajar en una empresa de eventos y eso me sirvió muchísimo. Al tiempo de estar viviendo acá comencé a producir shows, y no solo rockeros, laburé mucho con grupos folclóricos que llevaba a otras localidades, como Victorica, Acha, Lonquimay. Pero en Santa Rosa decidí que sean eventos de bandas del palo, que me reconocieran por eso; además notaba que acá faltaba un bar como este.”
“Yo apunté a darle lugar a las bandas que no tenían cabida acá en Santa rosa. En muchos lugares no podían tocar, prácticamente les pedían curriculum para poder hacerlo.
Ojeda admite que se le eriza la piel al recordar su bautismo de fuego como productor, que sucedió con el primer show para más de dos mil personas en diciembre de 2009, cuando trajo por primera vez a Santa Rosa a una de las bandas más representativas del punk de habla hispana: “2 Minutos”. “Fue una locura, los trajimos a tocar en el Club Argentino, muchos van a recordar esa noche. Muchas cosas se salieron de control, nos desbordó un poco la situación. Hubo errores, pero a partir de ahí fuimos mejorando en todo con mi equipo. Y creo que la frutilla del postre la tuvimos antes de la pandemia, en diciembre del año pasado cuando hicimos posible que una de las pocas presentaciones de Riff en su regreso fuera en Santa Rosa, y también en el Club Argentino, pero esta vez todo salió joya.”
–Al momento de abrir Jake ya llevabas bastante tiempo organizando shows y trayendo bandas, ¿fue una apuesta o una necesidad abrir el bar?
Mirá, creo que un poco de las dos cosas. Yo notaba que no había un lugar como jake. Un lugar under para el under, al mejor estilo londinense. Donde uno pueda comprar una birra y no tener la necesidad de sentarse en una mesa, sino que uno pueda pararse en un lugar, moverse, “barriletear”. En 2013 eso acá no existía, por eso digo que fue una necesidad y a su vez una apuesta porque muchos me decían que eso que quería hacer no se iba entender.
-Acá anteriormente funcionaba el “Viejo Villo”, alrededor del 2011, una experiencia fallida que planteaba esa idea de bar, ¿llegaste a conocerlo?
No la verdad que no, supe que hubo un par de barcitos antes de Jake en este mismo lugar, pero yo no salía mucho, la verdad. Estaba muy metido para adentro. Pero lo que si recuerdo es que cada vez que pasaba por afuera lo veía y me encantaba la fachada.
-¿Y cómo fueron los primeros meses, el público entendió la propuesta?
El primer año venía gente, pero fue muy difícil. En el segundo año ya nos consolidamos como el lugar alternativo, el lugar under en el cual ya había mucha bandas que las mayorías de las fechas que programaban las hacían acá. Y eso fue muy gratificante, porque muchas de esas bandas metaleras y punkies no tenían lugar para tocar, no se lo daban. Eso con Jake cambió.
-¿Convocaste a bandas locales que se hayan negado a tocar acá?
Sí.
–¿Y cómo tomaste eso?
La verdad que en su momento me dolió, quieras o no te duele, pero está bien, uno no puede conformar a todos. Pero hoy Jake tiene un muy buen sonido y un excelente operador. Hoy en el bar puede tocar cualquier banda que busqué sonar bien.
–¿Crees que tuvo que ver el hecho de que en algún momento el bar tuvo un ambiente complicado?
Puede ser, pero ya antes de que eso pase se negaban a tocar. Así como te dije que hoy tenemos un sistema de sonido y condiciones óptimas para un buen show, también te puedo afirmar que hoy jake es uno de los lugares más seguros de la noche santarroseña.
-¿Cómo fue esa época de descontrol en Jake, sentiste que la situación te había desbordado?
Fue muy complicado, no te lo voy a negar. Llegó un momento que no lo podía manejar. Venían acá y tomaban el bar por asalto, tenía que cerrarlo a las 3 de la mañana por el quilombo que generaban dos o tres chabones. La pasé muy mal. Estaba expuesto a que me pase algo a mi, a mi hija, y si le pasaba algo a ella, a la colo, no me lo iba a perdonar.
-¿Te paso de que habitúes del bar te dijeran que ya no podían venir más al bar por el bardo?
Sí, me pasó, se me pone la piel de gallina cuando te lo cuento. Eso también fue doloroso. Pero hoy esa gente ha vuelto.
-¿De qué manera revertiste esa situación en la que se encontraba Jake?
Tengo un amigo que laburó muchos años en seguridad en lugares nocturnos muy grandes de Buenos Aires. Vino acá un año y medio. Me salió mucha plata contratarlo, pero valió la pena. Y lo hicimos todo con mucho tacto, sin violencia, sin mano dura. Yo mismo le dedique mucho tiempo a esa situación para lograr cambiarla. Los días de semana iba a la casa de los que generaban el bardo acá dentro para hablar con ellos.
-¿Cómo fue eso?
Les golpeaba la puerta y me sentaba a tomar mate con ellos, con sus esposas, y a explicarles que esto no podía seguir así. “¿Qué pasa chabon, Jake es el único lugar al que podés entrar y vas a pudrirla?”, les decía, lo hice reiteradas veces. Lo tenía que hacer en la semana, porque el sábado llegaban al bar ya detonados y era imposible hablarles. Y pude lograrlo. Aunque no lo creas, son ellos lo que hoy no permiten que haya descontrol acá adentro. Hoy vienen a Jake, con sus parejas, se sientan, toman algo y colaboran con que todo esté bien.
–Siempre indicaste que Jake estaba señalado por las autoridades municipales, sobre todo por la gestión anterior, ¿crees que eso tenía que ver por el clima complicado que el bar tuvo en algún momento o había algo más?

Te puedo asegurar que no era por lo que supo ser en algún momento Jake. Acá durante la gestión municipal anterior los encargados de nocturnidad bajaban directamente con el talonario en la mano para hacerme la multa por más de que todo estuviese bien. Fue un hostigamiento total que padecimos durante cuatro años. Eso anímicamente también me pegó duro.
-¿Por qué crees que se dio ese hostigamiento?
Mirá, tengo entendido que había otros intereses, gente allegada a esa administración que quería quedarse con el bar. Todo muy oscuro.
–Una de las cosas que criticaban de Jake, muchos de los que concurrían ql bar, era la falta de inversión en el lugar, por ejemplo. ¿Cómo tomabas eso?
¡Pero si se la llevaban toda los que estaban antes en la municipalidad! Tenía todo preparado para hacer el escenario, refacciones y demás y venían a clavarme la multa. Fortunas me han sacado. No te miento al decirte que Jake fue la “vaca lechera” de ellos durante cuatro años.
–Recuerdo que hasta llegaste a pedir la banca del vecino para exponer frente los concejales por esta situación…
Sí, claro. Fue un recurso que utilicé porque ya no podía seguir más. Estuve 25 minutos hablando. Luego de eso, los del municipio estuvieron sin sacarme guita dos meses, después siguieron de la misma manera hasta que se fueron el 10 de diciembre.
-¿Cómo es la situación de la noche con la actual gestión?
En mi caso te puedo decir que bien. Han cambiado para bien muchas cosas. Mirá, un ejemplo que te doy, yo tuve dos años cerrados el patio de Jake. Los anteriores me lo clausuraron durante dos años. El 11 de diciembre del año pasado, ni bien se fueron, fui a hablar con los responsables de nocturnidad de la actual gestión para plantearles poder abrirlo, y me dijeron: “claro que podés abrirlo, el patio es un pulmón, exigimos que los locales tengan un pulmón, no podés tenerlo cerrado”. ¿Te das cuenta? Al otro día ya pude volver a abrirlo. Ese patio es un pulmón y los que estuvieron en el municipio de 2015 a 2019 me obligaron a cerrarlo.
–De acá a corto plazo, ¿como ves la movida, y en particular Jake, en este contexto de pandemia?
Muy difícil. Yo empleaba a 7 personas antes de esta situación, hoy somos sólo 2. Creo que todo está muy verde para que vuelva a ser como antes. A su vez, creo que hay gente que está haciendo bien las cosas en muchas áreas. Tratando de hacer todo lo posible para que la cultura siga estando de pie. Se vienen shows vía stream y al aire libre que van a estar muy bien. Respetando todos los protocolos, obviamente. Soy optimista en cuanto eso, pero para que jake vuelva a ser lo que fue antes de marzo, todavía falta. Ojalá podamos aguantar.

Las bandas cuando tocan tiene que pagar sonido y vender entradas para un lugar que no es muy fácil que la gente quiera asistir… Pero bueno cuentenla como quieran ….los bolicheros están del lado de su bolsillo nunca del lado de las bandas y menos del arte…
Ya habrá algún empresario que de prestaciones para que los artistas de rock puedan vivir y hacer shows dignamente.
