Si en seis meses el mundo cambió radicalmente, ¿por qué un simple cristiano no puede cambiar?
Eso pensé cuando vi la casa móvil de Juan Castronuovo, el hippie de Dios que anticipó la pandemia (click), pintada con imágenes infernales. Cuando lo entrevisté en diciembre del año pasado era un viejo lleno de ilusiones y ahora emana fuego de sus ojos. Era evidente que algo había pasado en el alma de ese sujeto para abandonar la prédica del cielo y empezar a militar el infierno. Decisiones tan drásticas no se toman porque sí.
Me acerqué intrigado. Tenía justo en la mochila un ejemplar de El anticristo, de Nietzsche. Se lo entregué muy gustoso. Lo recibió sorprendido y después, al mirarlo, desconfió. Me prometió que lo iba a leer y a mi me resultó muy importante que alguien milite con esas convicciones los anti-valores, entre tanta “buena” predica. Pero Juan en realidad había radicalizado su discurso, había optado por tomar el sendero bíblico del Apocalipsis.
Me enseñó la novedad: en el frente ya no dice “Jesucristo te protegerá” sino un prepotente “AL INFIERNO”, y a los costados reemplazó imágenes amorosas por serpientes que comen una prostituta consumida por fuegos bajo la leyenda: “En el infierno tu familia te espera”.
-¿Mi familia?- pregunté.
-Sí, tu familia también- me indicó.
No tenía la misma expresión tranquila como antes cuando acostumbraba recorrer la ciudad y la provincia en su casa-móvil con un parlante y predicar la palabra del Señor. Quería evangelizar a la sociedad, amablemente corregirla, enderezarla. Ahora llegó a la conclusión de que la sociedad, al igual que el peronista, es incorregible. De modo que decidió sembrar la semilla del diablo en su vehículo e intentar expandirla lo más posible.
-La permisividad pusilánime de esta sociedad me hartó.
De un lado de su camioneta estaba pintado el infierno y del otro el cielo. Le dije que entendía el concepto: “La luz y la oscuridad, el bien y el mal, la esencia del hombre”. Me dijo que no tenía plata para pintar los dos costados.
Juan sin embargo escondía algo más detrás de su resignación. Esos dibujos y frases intimidatorios eran en realidad una coraza para aislarse cada vez más de la sociedad, me confesará luego, con otras palabras.
-Me parecen un poco fuertes estas imágenes, ¿te parece que así vas a convencer a la gente para que tomen el buen camino?
–He llegado a un límite– me dijo con una expresión de campesino republicano de la América profunda mientras se mece en su silla junto a su escopeta y frente a un maizal.
-¿Cómo?
–No aguanto más- Juan se dejó la barba y ahora tiene un llamativo aspecto al último Hemingway.
-Hay que aguantar, ¿qué pasó?
–Ya no soporto la “civilización“. Se burlan y no entienden lo que pasa.
-Y este cambió tuyo genera que…
–Genera que me tengan respeto, o miedo. Ahora la gente me mira de otra forma.
-¿Y preferís que te miren de esta forma?
–Prefiero que me miren.
Juan me recordó al documental de Herzog “El hombre oso“, sobre Timothy Treadwell, quien tras su pasado de drogas y alcohol y harto de la civilización se internó 13 veranos en Alaska con osos pardos. La película muestra cómo pasó del entusiasmo, a la confusión y luego a la tristeza, porque descubrió que la naturaleza es igualmente injusta, salvaje e indiferente. En sentido casi metafórico, Timothy quería dejar de ser humano y fundirse entre los osos, hasta que fue devorado por uno de ellos.
Vi en Juan el éxtasis humano cuando comenta sus proyectos místicos y a la vez una oscura confusión interna al dar un giro macabro en su prédica para aislarse.
El viejo lucha con sus demonios ahí dentro, incluso hoy, que es su cumpleaños número 71. Tomaremos un vaso de vino y comeremos un trozo de carne asada en su combi. Asistirá un hombre que lleva una enorme y permanente sonrisa en el rostro, que duerme en la terminal y a quien Juan, según cuenta, le quitó la esquizofrenia porque ya no lucha ni grita por las noches contra sí mismo. Pidieron que se deje testimonio de todo en una próxima nota.
