México anunció que a fin de mes libera casi 6 millones de vacunas producidas en conjunto con el laboratorio de Hugo Sigman. Las dosis debían haber llegado a la Argentina en marzo, pero por el momento no fue entregada ni una sola.
“Llegaron 5.7 millones de dosis a granel de AstraZeneca provenientes de Buenos Aires para ser envasadas en la planta de Liomont, Ocoyoacac, Estado de México. La buena noticia es que los primeros lotes ya han sido producidos y serán liberados este mes para su aplicación”, escribió en su cuenta de Twitter el canciller mexicano Marcelo Ebrard.
El funcionario mexicano habló de 5,7 millones de dosis correspondientes a seis lotes. No se sabe cuántas de esas vacunas aterrizarán en la Argentina aunque sea la cantidad que sea llegarán a Buenos Aires a fin de mes.
“Sobre fines de este mes tendremos las primeras vacunas de AstraZeneca del proyecto conjunto con México según me anticipó el presidente AMLO”, dijo Alberto Fernández en medio de su gira europea en referencia a una comunicación con su par mexicano Andrés López Obrador.
Según el contrato que se hizo público semanas atrás a raíz de una denuncia, entre marzo y abril la Argentina debería haber recibido seis millones de dosis. El gran problema del plan de vacunación es que el gobierno confió en que el cronograma se respetaría y no abrió las suficientes negociaciones simultáneas con otros proveedores.
Sigman se excusó a través de un hilo en su cuenta de Twitter en la que dijo que “mAbxience ha cumplido y fabricado el principio activo al que nos habíamos comprometido, tanto en tiempo como en cantidad” y pateó la responsabilidad al resto del proceso que se desarrolla en México.
Este lunes el canciller mexicano señaló que “el proceso de llenado y envasado final es complejo y tiene muchos requerimientos de calidad. Es un logro importante de Liomont y COFEPRIS haberlo resuelto satisfactoriamente”.
Fueron muchos los problemas que atravesó la fabricación de las vacunas de AstraZeneca para América Latina. Primero la explicación tuvo que ver con la falta de envases y luego el proceso regulatorio de México generó demoras en la puesta en marcha de la planta de Liomont.
El laboratorio mexicano es una de las dos patas que tiene la fabricación del fármaco: Hugo Sigman elabora el principio activo de la vacuna y luego la exporta a México para que Liomont la distribuya y la envase.
