El Centro Gamaleya anunció que la efectividad de la vacuna Sputnik V llega al 95% tras 21 días de aplicada la segunda dosis. Días atrás Pfizer había asegurado que su producto tenía una efectividad similar.
Según explicaron, las cifras se basan en un segundo análisis intermedio del ensayo clínico de fase 3 sobre 39 casos confirmados de coronavirus entre sus participantes. Si bien aún no concluyeron las negociaciones, la Argentina adquirirá 25 millones de dosis de la Sputnik V, que permitirán vacunar a 12,5 millones de habitantes.
El laboratorio ruso detalló que la efectividad es del 91,4% siete días después de recibir la segunda dosis, pero tres semanas más tarde ese número trepa a 95%. Según un reporte publicado este lunes, no se detectaron hasta el momento efectos adversos.
El antídoto diseñado por Gamaleya tiene una ventaja respecto a la vacuna de Pfizer: la fórmula puede distribuirse en forma seca, lo que permite almacenarla entre 2 y 8 grados, una temperatura mucho menor a la vacuna norteamericana que requiere 70 grados bajo cero.
Sin embargo la cifra de casos positivos que utilizó el laboratorio ruso para calcular su eficacia es menor a la de sus competidores: Pfizer publicó sus resultados es de 170 positivos, Oxford/AstraZeneca de 130 y Moderna 95 contagiados. Los datos de la Sputnik V surgen tras 39 contagios. De esos 39 infectados, 31 habían recibido un placebo.
Hace dos semanas, Gamaleya anunció una efectividad del 92% en base a 20 casos confirmados y desde el laboratorio adelantaron que la próxima publicación se realizará cuando lleguen a las 78 infecciones, mientras que el reporte final se hará público cuando finalice la Fase III.
“La singularidad de la vacuna rusa radica en el uso de dos vectores diferentes basados en el adenovirus humano, lo que permite una respuesta inmune más fuerte y a más largo plazo en comparación con las vacunas que utilizan un mismo vector para dos dosis”, expresaron desde Gamaleya en u comunicado.
Los datos de la investigación provisional serán publicados por el equipo del Centro Gamaleya en una de las principales revistas médicas internacionales revisadas por pares, según informaron desde el laboratorio.
