La soja alcanzó los 440 dólares por tonelada: es la cotización más alta desde 2016

Los futuros de soja de EEUU subieron este lunes 1% hasta los u$s437,99, nuevo máximo en cuatro años, impulsados ante la preocupación por las condiciones de sequedad en algunas partes de Brasil y Argentina, lo que avivó el temor por el suministro, según analistas.

El maíz avanzó, también impulsado por la preocupación por la sequía en Sudamérica, y los futuros de trigo siguieron la tendencia al alza.

Los futuros de soja para enero de la Junta de Comercio de Chicago subieron un 0,9% a u$s437,99 después de rozar los u$s440 en la apertura, el precio más alto para un contrato de futuros de soja más activo desde junio de 2016. Desde el mínimo de u$s308,93, el 28 de abril pasado, la oleaginosa acumula un salto de casi 42%.

Por su parte, el maíz para marzo avanzó un 0,8% a u$s168,01 la tonelada y el trigo para el mismo mes aumentó 1% hasta los u$s220,28 la tonelada.

Las lluvias del fin de semana se limitaron a las zonas más septentrionales del cinturón de la soja de Brasil, dijo la empresa de tecnología espacial Maxar en una nota meteorológica sobre la cosecha, y los pronósticos para esta semana no eran mucho mejores.

“Se espera que las lluvias sean escasas en la mayoría de las zonas, lo que mantendrá la preocupación por la sequedad en la mayor parte de Brasil, haciendo hincapié en el maíz y la soja”, dijo la nota de Maxar.

Brasil es el principal exportador de soja del mundo y Argentina es el tercero, después de Estados Unidos.

La curva de futuros de soja de Chicago muestra que los precios de todos los contratos han subido hasta mediados del próximo año.

Los futuros de maíz obtuvieron un apoyo adicional de la demanda de exportación. El Departamento de Agricultura de Estados Unidos confirmó ventas privadas de 334.000 toneladas de maíz estadounidense a destinos desconocidos, lo que constituye el más reciente de una serie de anuncios diarios de venta de maíz.

“El maíz también sube por el mal tiempo para las cosechas sudamericanas, incluso en Argentina, y se espera una mayor demanda de exportación, ya que el maíz estadounidense parece el más barato del mundo”, dijo Matt Ammermann, gerente de riesgos de productos básicos de StoneX.
