El Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones será escenario de las primeras pruebas de tecnología 5G que realizarán las empresas a instancias del Estado, con la participación de las firmas Ericsson, Huawei y Nokia, para exponer el funcionamiento de la tecnología en proyectos puntuales.
Hasta ahora las pruebas para demostrar el valor de esta tecnología fueron realizadas por las operadoras con ensayos de laboratorio que mostraban con videojuegos, partidos de tenis o simulación de autos sin conductor, la multiplicación de la velocidad que permite 5G.
Desde el Enacom consideran que esta tecnología “ofrecerá ventajas sin precedentes en la industria, la educación y el entretenimiento, entre otras”.
“La incorporación de esta tecnología presenta una gran oportunidad de expansión de estas redes para impulsar la transformación digital del país, con foco en el sector productivo, en la educación y en la reducción de la brecha digital”, sostuvo el ente en un comunicado.
También el subsecretario de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones, Martín Olmos, remarcó que 5G “es el horizonte, es el futuro” para el cual habrá que preparar normativa.
Mientras se “atienden los déficits de los sistemas actuales, la falta de cobertura y la situación de las personas que no pueden acceder a los servicios, ya sea por cuestiones de cobertura o por el costo de los mismos”, sostuvo Olmos.
Entre las empresas que participan de las pruebas organizadas por el Enacom, Pablo Peretti (Ericsson Argentina) adelantó que llevarán al Ente “ejemplos prácticos de cómo el 5G permitirá transformar la sociedad y habilitará nuevas oportunidades para diferentes sectores, tales como producción, educación y salud, entre otros, contribuyendo al crecimiento y digitalización del país”.
Con esta tecnología en funcionamiento, indicó por su parte Fernando Sosa (Nokia) “Argentina podría tener un crecimiento económico de US$302.000 millones entre este año y el 2035 si desplegara 5G, con una productividad de US$ 778.000 millones”.
El sistema permitiría generar “un salto en la conveniencia para la población, la productividad de las empresas y la gestión de los gobiernos”, de acuerdo a las conclusiones del estudio realizado para Nokia por la consultora Omdia.
Sosa adelantó que esta semana en el Enacom mostrarán “robots usando inteligencia en la nube para solucionar tareas que requieren respuestas inmediatas, con banda ancha diez veces más rápida que 4G, y video en 360° tomado en el área”.
También desde Telecom -que se presenta en la muestra con uno de sus proveedores, Huawei, y que tiene redes de 5G en Buenos Aires y Rosario sobre bandas asignadas a 4G-, indicaron que esta nueva tecnología “revolucionará las comunicaciones móviles en el país, abriendo la puerta hacia una nueva era en la economía digital”.
La tecnología 5G, no sólo está pensada para dar un salto cualitativo en las comunicaciones entre personas, sino que es una plataforma que que permitirá el desarrollo de un nuevo ecosistema en el cual habrá más objetos comunicados que personas.
El sistema permitiría generar “un salto en la conveniencia para la población”, la productividad y la gestión de los gobiernos.
La estimación de la Unión Internacional de Telecomunicaciones (UIT) es que con tecnología 5G se pueden conectar y traficar datos de un millón de dispositivos por milla cuadrada.Las ciudades inteligentes, las cirugías remotas, los vehículos autoconducidos, los procesos de manufactura industrial, son algunas de las actividades que podrán realizarse en tiempo real, con esta plataforma que tiene milisegundos de latencia.
La puesta en marcha de esta tecnología en el país requiere de asignaciones de bandas del espectro radioeléctrico tanto en las frecuencias más altas como en las bajas, así como fuertes inversiones en redes de fibra óptica ya que es la tecnología “elegida” para complementar a las antenas de 5G.
El director de Planeamiento y Urbanización de la Subsecretaría de Tecnologías de la Información y las comunicaciones, (Subsetic), Juan Gnius, sostuvo en un encuentro organizado por el Centro Argentino de Ingenieros que “5G requiere 5 veces más fibra óptica que la desplegada para 4G”.
En cuanto a normativas, Olmos indicó en el mismo encuentro que “se está trabajando en un reglamento de espectro y en un plan de asignación -de frecuencias de espectro radioeléctrico- que aprobaremos este año”.
“Esto va a dar una perspectiva de las bandas que se van a ir atribuyendo” para la tecnología 5G, afirmó.
Adelantó, además, que el Reglamento de Espectro “incluirá la habilitación de un mercado secundario, no totalmente desregulado sino con control del ente regulador, que pueda contribuir a la eficiencia de las asignaciones”.
Hay un mercado secundario cuando un operador tiene bloques de frecuencias asignadas de espectro sin utilizar y las “subalquila” a un competidor que tiene congestión de tráfico.
“El establecimiento de un mercado secundario forma parte de las buenas prácticas de administración de espectro radioeléctrico mencionadas por entidades como la Organización para la Cooperación y el Desarrollo Económicos (OCDE) y la Unión Internacional de Telecomunicaciones (UIT)”, afirmó el director de 5G para América Latina y el Caribe, José Otero.
El experto aseguró que esa modalidad “fomenta mayor dinamismo y flexibilidad” en la industria móvil, “acelera la innovación, incrementa la competencia y mejora la calidad de los servicios”.
