Representantes de las 5 provincias acordaron la realización de un nuevo estudio de impacto ambiental en Portezuelo del Viento, excepto Mendoza, quienes se opusieron nuevamente a la decisión del Comité. El Diputado Nacional Hernán Pérez Araujo, y la Fiscala de Estado, Romina Schmidt, representaron a La Pampa en la reunión que se produjo en el Salón de los Escudos de Casa Rosada donde fue presidida por el Secretario de Interior, José Lepere, además contó con la presencia de representantes del Ministerio de Ambiente y de la Secretaría de Infraestructura y Política Hídrica de la Nación; y representantes de las cinco provincias integrantes del COIRCO.
El Ministerio de Ambiente realizó una propuesta de trabajo, consistente en crear la Comisión de común acuerdo entre las jurisdicciones, con el objetivo de colaborar con CORICO y elaborar en ese ámbito, los términos de referencia del Estudio de Impacto Ambiental, a fin de realizar una posterior evaluación del mismo, que garantice además la participación popular a través de la implementación de audiencias públicas a realizarse en las distintas provincias miembros de la cuenca y en el ámbito nacional.
“Celebramos la concreción de una mesa política que defina y concrete estas cuestiones”, afirmó el diputado Nacional Hernán Pérez Araujo.
“Esta reunión se realiza en cumplimiento de lo requerido por los gobernadores de la cuenca, y nuestro trabajo es, ni más menos, que hacer cumplir la ley, que nos conmina a la realización de los correspondientes estudios y a garantizar la participación popular de manera previa a la concreción de la obra”, aseguró el diputado.
Cabe resaltar que las representaciones de Neuquén, Río Negro y Buenos Aires, junto a la de La Pampa, expresaron su acuerdo con el avance del trabajo, mientras que la provincia de Mendoza se manifestó con dudas al respecto, insistiendo en la aprobación de los estudios parciales anteriores y con la necesidad de Laudo del Presidente de la Nación al respecto. “Respecto de esos estudios anteriores, la Nación y el resto de las provincias hemos coincido en que resultan ser parciales, y que solo pueden utilizarse como información para el nuevo estudio”, concluyó Pérez Araujo.
Por último La Pampa le presentó una nueva solicitud a Mendoza, para que hasta tanto se concreten el Estudio de Impacto Ambiental y su posterior Evaluación, con garantía de participación popular, no se realicen acciones tendientes a la concreción de una obra que no puede avanzar en las condiciones imperantes actualmente.
