El gobierno de Alberto Fernández aspira a alcanzar un acuerdo con Rusia para fabricar en un laboratorio argentino la vacuna Sputnik V, la única que por el momento se está aplicando en el país. Así lo reveló Eduardo Zuain, el diplomático que el Presidente acaba de designar por decreto para encabezar la embajada en Moscú.
“Es un deseo, una aspiración y un objetivo estratégico de la Argentina empezar a trabajar para que un día esas vacunas se empiecen a fabricar en la Argentina”, afirmó Zuain.
Fuentes de la Cancillería consultadas por este diario señalaron que las negociaciones son, por el momento, conversaciones a largo plazo con las autoridades del centro Gamaleya, de Moscú. Pero subrayaron que el proyecto de producir la Sputnik V en el país existe y sería “una segunda etapa”, porque el primer paso es “garantizar que lleguen las vacunas prometidas”.
“Mi tarea en Rusia empieza por abogar porque continúen los envíos del modo más regular posible de vacunas a la Argentina. Y conseguir que en la Argentina se empiecen a fabricar vacunas. Vamos a hacer gestiones para iniciar un proceso que termine en eso: Argentina como centro de producción de vacunas. Tenemos que ir por eso”, había afirmado Zuain en declaraciones radiales.
La Sputnik V se produce actualmente, además de en Rusia, en India y Corea del Sur, mientras están avanzadas las tratativas para que Brasil se convierta también en fabricante. La posibilidad de sumar a la Argentina en el segundo trimestre del año ya la había sugerido en diciembre el director ejecutivo del Fondo Ruso de Inversión Directa, Kirill Dmietriev.
Por otro lado, en su presentación pública, Zuain defendió la construcción diplomática del kirchnerismo con el presidente Vladimir Putin. “Nosotros habíamos visualizado la importancia de Rusia en un mundo multipolar ya en el período 2003-2015. Los procesos de relaciones no se construyen de la noche a la mañana”.
Y añadió: “Lo de mandarnos vacunas no fue un gesto espontáneo de Vladimir Putin. Es una construcción de décadas”.
Confirmó además que Fernández podría viajar a Rusia este año: “Estimo que el Presidente va a visitar Rusia en los próximos meses. Estamos tratando que sea una visita de Estado”.
