Las ventas de supermercados aumentaron por cuarto mes consecutivo y confirman que el sector es uno de los pocos beneficiados de la economía en pandemia.
En mayo, marcaron un repunte del 54,8% a precios corrientes y un 5,1% a precios constantes, es decir, en términos reales. Así registraron el mejor mes del año después de marzo, cuando el inicio de la cuarentena provocó un fuerte acopio de alimentos.
A su vez, el alza del mes fue liderada por artículos “no esenciales” que muchos otros comercios estuvieron impedidos de vender, lo que motivó diversas protestas. Por ejemplo, “electrónicos y artículos del hogar” subieron un 129,5%.
Le siguieron “verdulería y frutería” con un 81,6%, “almacén” (58,9%), “lácteos” (51,9%), “carnes” (51,3%), “artículos de limpieza y perfumería” (46,7%), “otros” (46,3%) e “indumentaria, calzado y textiles” (46,1%).
A pesar de los acuerdos de “precios máximos” y “precios cuidados”, pudieron aplicar aumentos del 47,3% en términos interanuales, tres puntos por encima de la inflación en dicho mes.
Esta situación se mantendría en el mes de junio de acuerdo a un informe de Focus Market que muestra un incremento mensual del 10,5% en legumbres secas, 5,1% en frutas y 4,4% en aceites.
Esta buena performance no se vio reflejada en el plano laboral. El personal ocupado se redujo un 1,1% respecto al mes anterior (-2,7% interanual) y los salarios promedio cayeron un 6,3% contra abril.
Un panorama totalmente opuesto se registró en los shoppings, según lo reportado por el Indec. En este caso, las contadas excepciones de aperturas en algunas zonas del interior del país no pudieron evitar un desplome del 95,6% en términos reales.
