El presidente de la Unión Industrial Argentina, Daniel Funes de Rioja, tildó ayer de “demonizador” el proyecto de ley de Etiquetado Frontal que no pudo ser debatido en Diputados por falta de quórum. “Hay muchos modelos en el mundo sobre este tema: el proyecto que se viene discutiendo sigue el chileno, que no es de información sino de demonización”, sostuvo el titular de la central fabril.
La iniciativa, que cuenta con media sanción del Senado, apunta a informar a los consumidores la presencia de altos niveles de grasas, sodio, azúcares y calorías en los alimentos. Pese a tener dictamen de comisión, no pudo debatirse en Diputados porque el oficialismo no logró quórum, al reunir 122 legisladores, siete menos de la cantidad necesaria.
“No estamos en contra de una ley de Etiquetado. Hace diez años firmamos acuerdos para la eliminación de grasas trans en alimentos”, sostuvo el dirigente.
Funes de Rioja manifestó su apoyo a que el proceso de etiquetado tenga como base al Mercosur y consideró que “sería importante porque somos economías interdependientes”. “Ese sería un modelo de advertencia, de brindar información, porque si ponen etiquetados negros eso tiene otra simbología, es más de infracción”, añadió el titular de la Coordinadora de las Industrias de Productos Alimenticios (Copal).
El proyecto establece que los alimentos y bebidas analcohólicas envasados y comercializados en la Argentina deben tener colocadas leyendas como: “Exceso en azúcares”, “Exceso en sodio”, “Exceso en grasas saturadas”, “Exceso en grasas totales”, y/o “Exceso en calorías”. Uno de los puntos más cuestionados por los empresarios es que el sello adoptará la forma de octógonos de color negro con borde y letras de color blanco.
